STAYING WITH THE TROUBLE

This year, the 6th biennale performance festival at Gylleboverket,  has darkness in its broadest sense as its thematic starting point.

With darkness as the theme, we explore, together with the audience and participating artists, the incomprehensible, the unknown, the hidden, the marginalized, that which worries, scares, but also protects and encapsulates, as well as that which we do not want to see but which exists anyway.

Darkness as a place of opportunity to pause, listen, grope our way forward and gently get to know what we do not yet know in the interconnected world of mutual relationships we live in.

”STAYING WITH THE TROUBLE MEANS MAKING ODDKIN; THAT IS, WE REQUIRE EACH OTHER IN UNEXPECTED COLLABORATIONS AND COMBINATIONS, IN HOT COMPOST PILES. WE BECOME – WITH EACH OTHER OR NOT AT ALL.”

DONNA HARAWAY.

Staying with the trouble: Making kin in the chthulucene is a book by Donna Haraway from which this years’s performancefestival borrows its title.

The festival will bring together local, national and international artists with different perspectives where art can challenge and create a platform to meet, touch and ask questions and bring the hidden to the surface of the deep waters we find ourselves in a world in constant change.

The festival will consist of: performance, stage performances, workshops, interactive installations, social sculptures, music, sound art and a philosophical dark room.
